ADI honours felicitates exemplary contributors to the field of design with an honorary ADI membership every year. This year we have a privilege to felicitate Prof. Nadkarni for his outstanding contribution towards design and design education.

HONORARY SPEAKER – PROF. SUDHAKAR NADKARNI

Professor Sudhakar Nadkarni has the distinction of having intiated three major Institutions in the country. He was instrumental in starting the Industrial Design Centre at IIT Bombay in 1969, the department of Design at IIT Guwahati in 1997 and the design Management programme at the Welingkar Institute of Management at Mumbai.

Subrata is perhaps India’s most lauded designer with over 60 prestigious national and international awards (18 of them being President of India Awards) in Graphics, Advertising, Photography and Book Design. In 2016 he was honored with the “Lifetime Achievement Award” for Contribution towards Communication and Design Education in Mumbai, India.

Allen Shaw is an Indian Artist, illustrator and story teller based in Berlin. He completed 20 years of sketchbook keeping last year and is currently doing a road trip where he talks about this journey through presentations and a set of panels and sharing his sketchbooks.

Aniruddha Sen, Oni, is a graduate of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and has directed over 500 television commercials. Oni’s approach to filmmaking is an extension of his background in visual arts.

Arzan is an architect by profession and a sculptor by choice. He started sculpting in his teens by scouting for scrap metal, and welding them into “SCRAPTURES”. His works are in corporate houses, traffic islands, hotels, and private collections around the world and range from six inches to seventy feet in height.
