“DESIGN TO BUILD”
Student Design Awards@ Pune Design Festival, 2008
Apply your innovative mind to design the ideal “Traffic Police Booth”
How does one define an ideal urban lifestyle? With India poised towards a better global future, how does product and furniture design fit into the local ethos of this growing development? How does one equip our cities for this future? And how does this tie up with our tradition and culture?
As the cities are expanding and becoming more crowded there is a growing need for better public amenities. Traffic Police are the once who keep our city running smoothly. Have we ever thought off their hardships? These mortals brave the sun-rain-cold to keep the traffic of our city running. The temporary shelters / booths which they badly require are hardly given any attention. These booths also give an identity to our cross roads and city scape.
“Design to Build” invites proposals to design for the new India. We welcome entries that are innovative, enterprising and revolutionary. The idea should relate to the environment- culturally, geographically and socio-economically.
Design the ‘Traffic Police Booth’ which gives the Traffic Police a comfort zone in addition to giving a fresh new look to this temporary abode. Think of innovative methods to make this booth user-friendly, comforting and pleasing to look at.
